“Sunday morning, rain is falling”

It’s a cold day in nyc today.

Plus, rain is falling.

I didn’t pack for all possible seasons,

so I’ve layered on thick cotton black tights underneath my chiffon floor length skirt.

Still freezing, I’ve taken cover at a French pastry shop nearby called, “financier patisserie.” I plan on staying here a while.. People watching.. Drinking a cappuccino… Staying warm.

“off into a far”

But I’ll tell you what hermits realize. If you go off into a far, far forest and get very quiet, you’ll come to understand that you’re connected with everything. -A. Watts.

-These are older photos I’ve taken with a simple point and shoot camera in Dayton, Ohio with my hometown friend Cassidy.

USS North Carolina

-Tourist trap or not, adventure still awaits when you find yourself in front of a massive battleship. The USS North Carolina allows all nostalgic explorers permission to roam freely across most of this aircraft carrier.. for just small fee.

I wasn’t lucky enough to beat the crowds; so if you’re planning on visiting, I recommend being there bright and early to allow yourself some peaceful pondering. Let yourself step back in time and envision being surrounded by the brave men who had survived the great depression and ready to serve their country. Then relax on the ship’s runway by playing an actual game of BattleShip. –which you had stuffed in your backpack earlier that morning.

Paul: Look, it’s a school of whales.
Ringo: They look a little bit old for school.
Paul: University then.
Ringo: University of “Wales”.
John: They look like drop-outs to me.

Let the sunshine in

Good Morning! Today is beautiful outside. All is wonderful. (-I’m not sure if my perspective is due to sunshine or coffee.. possibly a bit of both). I would much rather be out and about exploring and looking under rocks instead of working all day on a Saturday. I just finished finals this week and I have yet to sit back and explore.

And if the sunshine shines to bright on your eyes today, stop by Lenscrafters and let me help shade your life in bold sunglasses B)

“All children are artists”

-The problem is how to remain an artist once she grows up.

My  crazy, stubborn sister Olivia.

Don’t tell her no, because she won’t listen… at all.

She does what she wants because she is six and that’s what six year-olds do. For the most part, she goes where she pleases and pleases wherever she goes. For only being of a young age, she has a pretty firm grasp on what life is about. Life is about doing what you want.. while wearing “fancy” skirts. During Kindergarten testing, the teacher asked her to count to ten. Olivia took her own route and counted in Spanish. The teacher then asked her what she wanted to do “when she grew up.” Olivia informed her that she would go to college.

When she wakes up, she sneaks to the kitchen for chocolate or candy. -Because breakfast is so overrated. She loves colorful dresses and gym shoes that sparkle. She dreams of Paris and the Eiffel Tower. She also thinks that when she finally goes to college, she’ll move in with me (lets hope that I’m not still in school.)

As her big sister, I’ve promised myself to not let her grow up to a “mature individual.”  Because we, as a whole, have shaped those words to something that actually draws into societal conformity. Instead, I will inspire her to forget individualistic success and encourage her to simply, learn.

The thought of Easter around the corner, reminded me of these photos that I snapped of her playing in the backyard woods.
